What Does It Really Mean to Be Called?

We hear it often: “You have a calling.”But what does that actually mean? Is it about a career? A feeling? A divine voice thundering from the clouds? A Calling Isn’t Just for “Special People” Some people think callings are reserved for prophets, preachers, or people with huge platforms. But truthfully? Whether you’re leading a team, raising a family, studying at university, or building something quietly in the background—your calling matters. God doesn’t need loud voices to do powerful work. He needs willing hearts. It’s Not Always Glamorous (and That’s Okay) Sometimes, walking in your calling feels… ordinary.You may not get applause. People might not understand you. That’s okay too. Many people don’t start with clarity—they start with curiosity and obedience. Here’s a gentle process that helps: Pray – Ask God to reveal what He’s planted in you. Pay Attention – What burdens your heart? What brings you alive? Take Small Steps – Explore, serve, volunteer. Be Patient – Purpose unfolds in layers, not all at once.
